SheWrites.com Blogger Ball #5

Hello, fellow SheWriters! Thanks for stopping by for a visit. My name is Robin and I’m a fiction writer, mostly novels but with some short stories thrown in. My stories generally focus on women and range in genre from mainstream women’s fiction to historical to fantasy. I blog about writing itself and obstacles to writing (lots about procrastination!), and I’m getting ready to launch a new weekly feature called Friday Flashback where I look back at a movie, TV show, book, or other pop culture phenomenon that influenced me growing up and provided inspiration for Justine and Nikki, two of the main characters in my current work-in-progress.

I look forward to meeting you all, and I hope you enjoy! Here’s your magical bookshelf to get back to the Blogger Ball dance floor 🙂

  1. I had to laugh at spelling “Ficiton.” I do that with other words. I know how to spell them but something happens in the neurology of typing, and it just comes out all wrong.

    It’s great to meet you!

  2. Great to meet you too, Kelley! Thanks for stopping by. It is funny how words can get jumbled as they travel from our brains (which I just typed as brians) to our fingers, or from our brains to our mouths for that matter 🙂

  3. I cannot spell. I either was in a coma or kidnapped by aliens during that special time grade school where they taught the fundamentals. I felt an immediate connection to you given your spelling of my favorite genre. I wasn’t sure I would like blogging and only started to because it seems we writers need one. I have found the writing for it great fun, the self-marketing, etc., and blogging hopping to me a while… Anyway.. Impressed you tweet too.

  4. Hi, Brenda. Nice to meet you. Thanks for stopping by. I’m glad you like my title — I figured it would strike a chord with people 🙂 I’ll be sure to check out your blog. It sounds really cool.

  5. Hi, Shelley, it’s nice to meet you. I’m glad you like the Friday Flashback idea. When I first thought of it, I wasn’t sure if I could come up with enough topics (I’m mostly covering the years 1977-1991), but once I started brainstorming I couldn’t believe how many shows and movies I came up with. It should be a lot of fun. Can’t wait to check out your blog too 🙂

  6. Hi, Robin. I’m stopping by for the blog hop. It’s nice to meet you. I write novels and short stories too. I usually focus on children’s books though, picture books through young adult. I do occasionally write some short fiction for adults though.

  7. Blog Ball visitor here!

I can definitely use help with the obstacles to writing – my issues aren’t so much procrastination as life with two young kids, but I need to figure it all out! Glad to meet you!

  8. Nice to meet you! I have a close friend who is struggling with the same issue — she has two young (and very energetic!) boys who take up a lot of her time and energy, so it’s a battle for her to find the time and the energy to write. She just told me she’s been writing while riding the stationary bike at the gym! Now that’s dedication. I just started reading an ebook on finding balance in your life, so if it’s useful, I’ll definitely post a review about it here. Good luck, and I look forward to visiting your blog.

  9. Hi, Kelly. It’s nice to meet you. Thanks for stopping by. I’ve often thought about writing children’s books, but I haven’t come up with an idea yet that really grabbed me. I love reading young adult books. I look forward to checking out your blog 🙂

  10. Robin, Just stopping by during the Blogger’s Ball hosted by Meg…so nice to meet you. Enjoyed looking around your site…now following you.
